Usaid contributes $2,6 million to the riset in Indonesia.Indonesia has since Wednesday (17/07/2013) provided new funding worth nearly 2 million dollars to researchers in Indonesia, including aceh, in the fields of health and science. This grant programme is part of the partnership for enhanced engagement in research (partnerships for enhanced engagement in research/peer).
Five new grants are awarded to scientists from various research institutes and universities in Indonesia to conduct innovative research in health and science for three years. “Together with the six grants awarded last month, the total amount of aid given to Indonesian researchers through peer programmes this year reached 2.8 million U.S. dollars,” said U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia, Scot Marciel, who sent the press release to the porch yesterday.
According to him, the grant funds are awarded through a selection based on the weight of scientific research, the estimated effect on development, and the prospect of strong cooperation between Indonesian and U.S. scientists. Globally, through the peer program, we directly provide support to researchers in developing countries in collaboration with U.S. scientists who also receive funding from the national institutes of health (NIH) and the national science foundation (NSF) in the U.S.
Indonesia is one of the focus areas for health grant programs, and one-third of global health funding is given to Indonesian researchers.
Usaid Indonesia, said Marciel, is committed to development by improving the utilisation of science and technology, including strengthening the capacity of scientific research. This new grant from the U.S. will be used to fund research on multiple drug resistance in tuberculosis, dengue fever, leptospirosis, drug quality, biodiversity, education, climate change, and natural resource management.
And the United States provided $100.000 for the earthquake in Aceh Tengah.
