Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last month, US President Joe Biden ordered a restriction on imports of oil, gas, and coal from Russia on Tuesday.
“The United States is attacking the primary artery of Russia’s economy,” Biden stated. He also admitted that many allies would be unable to implement comparable prohibitions.
“Today’s choice has a cost here at home,” Biden concluded. Putin’s war is already causing problems for American households at the petrol pump. Since Putin launched his military buildup around Ukraine’s borders, the price of gas at the pump in the United States has risen by 75 cents, and with this step, it will rise even more. “I’m going to do everything I can to keep Putin’s price increase to a minimum here at home.”
European countries rely more heavily on Russian fuel supplies than the United States. In the US White House announcement, Biden regularly referred to the incursion as Vladimir Putin’s war.
