Ukraine Relies on Generators to Face the Energy crisis

Ukraine receives 300 thousand electricity generators to face the cold and darkness

Kyrillo Tymoshenko, deputy head of Ukraine’s President’s Office, announced that his country had received more than 300,000 electric generators of various capacities as of December last year, amid repeated Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

The Ukrainian adviser said on his page in “Telegram”: “We provide light and communication, no matter how hard they try to lose it.”

“In the face of ongoing Russian missile attacks on the country’s energy sector, Ukrainian authorities have recently focused their efforts on providing essential equipment for critical infrastructure,” Tymoshenko pointed out.

A Ukrainian official revealed, “Kyiv has received more than 300,000 generators of various capacities and capacities over the past year.

Ukraine has received electricity generators from several countries, companies and donors in recent months to help cover severe electricity shortages across the country.

And Ukrainian officials said “a decision has been made to simplify and facilitate the import of this equipment to reduce the energy gap.”

Since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has received 8,000 generators from several countries, Tymoshenko confirmed that his country received thousands of generators in the first days of January.

“Ukrainian authorities are systematically working to solve the problems related to providing all necessary energy and services to the population,” Tymoshenko said.

He said that people should have access to health services, education and social services

And Ukrainian authorities are replacing less powerful generators with more powerful and efficient ones, to ensure stable operation of the power system.

In addition to significant damage to the energy system and infrastructure, the Internet and communications sector was also affected by numerous disruptions as a result of repeated Russian strikes on power distribution networks and power generation plants.

According to Tymoshenko, Kyiv facilitated the import of components and services related to the “Starlink” system for communications and the Internet, as the government brought in about 8,000 devices last December alone.

Along with more services provided by the “Starlink” system, Kyiv will get more generators, the Ukrainian official indicated.

Legitimacy continues

• Ukraine’s energy operator said on Friday that deficits in the energy system persisted, but that temperatures would gradually rise across the country by the end of the week, leading to lower consumption.

• The company has announced that it will continue rationing policy to limit the consumption and exceeding the permissible consumption limits will risk shutting down the power system to avoid any emergency or loss of power.

• The company said “massive missile attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and Russian drone attacks will result in a general shortfall in the energy system.”

• She indicated that “Russian forces have temporarily occupied several power stations that generate electricity for Ukraine, including the Zaporizhia station, which could completely cover Ukraine.”

Dark and snowy

The energy crisis is a major challenge for Ukraine amid power shortages and power outages in much of the country, as Kyiv tries to restore order and secure electricity for millions of citizens across the country.

Lack of electricity in the electricity system plunges Ukrainians into darkness and cold in winter.

As a result of missile attacks and damage to the country’s energy systems, satellite images from space showed darkness across the entire territory of Ukraine.

Authorities adopt an emergency system in power distribution, giving priority to power supply to hospitals and essential facilities.

At the same time, workers at certified energy companies try to repair the damage caused by repeated Russian strikes on the country’s infrastructure.

Over the past few days, several local reports have reported complete blackouts in Ukrainian towns and cities, in lieu of heavy rationing of food in most Ukrainian cities.

Residents of some Ukrainian towns rely mainly on firewood and traditional materials for heating, especially in light of the frosty ration hours.

Two months ago, Ukrainian authorities set up permanent emergency points in several cities and towns where residents could charge their phones and get a hot meal.
