I said it on Monday that it is only by a miracle that everyone will come out alive in the wrecked vehicle on Ikeja-along. Here’s the update:
Mr. Femi was in a Nissan Pathfinder with his family inward Oshodi when a CRV car rammed into his vehicle and made him lose control.
Sadly, the driver of the CRV sped off and escaped.
An eyewitness, Yusuf Tiamiyu, told PUNCH that the accident was caused by the CRV driver, whom he said was on top speed. He said people were afraid to assist the victims for fear of being arrested by police.
He said, “The CRV driver was speeding. He did not stop after hitting the jeep, which lost control and somersaulted to the other side of the road where a Tata bus was. The whole thing happened very fast and the woman died instantly.
“Everybody was afraid to assist them until emergency agencies came. What really pained me is the death of the woman because she was pregnant.”
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Michael Akindele, said:
“Unfortunately a young woman died instantly while the husband and their five-year-old girl survived with minor injuries and were moved to LASUTH for treatment.”
