Tracks of Man-Sized Creature Man Bat or Mothman Sightings

Consider a man-sized monster flying through your windshield, staring at you before taking off into the night sky. This occurred to a 53-year-old LaCrosse guy named Wohali and his 25-year-old son. Reaction? illness. The son, who was driving, swerved and then pulled the vehicle over into a ditch so he could vomit. The son, who prefers to remain anonymous, vomited six or seven times. Both Wohali and I were unwell for a week. The son is too scared to talk about the event. The narrative has to be shared, Wohali said, so people “know what’s out there.” Man, On September 26, between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m., on Briggs Road near LaCrosse.

The monster was 6-7 feet tall with bat-like leathery wings spanning 10-12 feet, long claws on its feet and “hands,” and a snarling grimace on its face. They both felt enraged by what had been witnessed. In his handwritten testimony, Wohali said, “Our tiny 4-wheel drive truck’s headlights captured (in mid-air) a bat-like, man-like monster (we nearly whacked it with our windshield).” The thing “screamed” at them before soaring straight up into the air. Both guys were sick to their stomachs and vomited for the remainder of the night.

Wohali said he didn’t know whether the creature was on the road when it hit their vehicle, or if it was flying at the time. He was certain it was a real monster, but unlike anything he’d seen previously. He stated the sketch above has more features than he observed during the brief meeting, but “the lips and teeth were so prominent that the face was impossible to discern. It was hungry. ” In his words, “everything was so surreal that all I recall is what I saw.” “I remember the fangs and the scream we heard was terrible,” Wohali said.

I continued, “After all, the Mississippi Upper Wildlife Refuge is the country’s biggest and lies just outside my back door. It conceals many odd animals. Not like this before. Rent the movie Dracula; the Dracula monster looks like the one in Van Helsing. “

Briggs Road is a mile-long road located west of Holmen and north of LaCrosse. It spans between County Highways XX and V, intersecting with Highway 53 approximately halfway. To the west is a big marsh and Halfway Creek to the east.

Nearby are the Van Loon State Wildlife Area and the Amsterdam Prairie. Near the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife Refuge and Lake Onalaska lies the road’s southern terminus. The road rises quickly as you drive north, and the monster was observed towards the summit of the hill, less than a quarter mile from the route’s south entrance. An enclosed space looked to be some form of utility site on the west side of the road, while a shooting range and club were on the east. On the west side of the viewing location is a thick, bramble-like plant.

Investigation:

I went with Wohali and a guy who is a seasoned deer hunter and butcher. 18 days after the sighting, on October 14 (the best I could do due to previous commitments). We drove there initially during the day and looked for footsteps, but the terrain was either asphalt, swampy grass, or shrubbery. We did spot something white on the west side of the road near the sighting. We timed it at 25 feet from the roadway.

It was a horribly disfigured deer corpse found in a wooded area full of brambles. No noticeable drag marks or blood on the ground. The deer’s skin had been peeled back from the stomach toward the forelimbs, which remained intact along with the head. No obvious gunshot or biting marks.

No odour, possibly due to temps approaching freezing at night and barely in the 50s during the day. The hunter accompanying us estimated the corpse as three days old and weighing 60 pounds. The low weight estimate was because the haunch, lower abdomen, and hind limbs were not there, so the figure was low.

It still had the valuable ribs and tenderloin that a hunter would have grabbed, but the haunches had been cut off. Wohali’s Native American hunting acquaintance reported that the bodies were not hacked with a knife. It’s also possible that the body was torn off somewhere else, bled out, then taken to this position and placed. There were no visible teeth or bite marks from anything holding it in its mouth.

We couldn’t do a full forensic investigation into the animal. Oddly, an unopened black garbage bag rested next to the cadaver, facing the street. It’s conceivable the deer was a “clean” road kill and someone opted to butcher it and take it back to the brambles, leaving the rubbish bag behind. That’s a waste of fine meat. And the blood? Or a recent storm may have blown the rubbish bag into the deer.

Wohali returned to the place last week, 10 days after we discovered the cadaver, and found no sign of it, not even a bone. To be fair, the carcass may have been put there no more than fifteen days (assuming it was three days old) after Wohali first saw the creature. So, a link to the creature is difficult to verify. Due to its proximity to a shooting club, it was easy to imagine someone snagging an illegal deer and then trying to bury the evidence. That it was in the exact same location as the sighting, along with the odd physical state of the bones, makes it noteworthy. We returned that evening at the same time.

Terri Schlichenmeyer, his companion, and I were in a vehicle driven by Terri Wohali, a book critic. The carcass was still there, in the same state. We parked in the ditch where Wohali and his kid had stopped and watched for an hour in the dark. Wohali noticed something gloomy in the trees, and they all watched something enormous, black, and slinky traverse the road up the hill. It’s like an inky ribbon unfolding. But maybe I wasn’t searching in the appropriate area. Terri, my weekend hostess, was misinformed and dubious about the scenario. Finally, everyone felt uneasy, and Wohali’s buddy insisted we leave quickly, so we did.

Correlations

This sighting reminds me of a dad and his kid searching for a lost dog along the LaCrosse riverfront in the mid-1990s. They saw a “lizard guy” with brownish scales and a reptile appearance. It had no open mouth or outstretched arms. A state DNR warden and a group of highway workers witnessed a “reptile man” on Hwy. 13 near Medford at the same time. It had wings and could fly away from them (see Hunting the American Werewolf, p. 240-245) As indicated in “Hunting,” the Medford location was along the Black River near LaCrosse! Can a creature be both airborne and aquatic? Many water birds do it.

Bats in the sea? Not so sure. Swimmable bat-like wings? Wohali noticed clawed feet, not webbed for paddling. Still, it’s unusual that these bizarre, man-sized animals have gathered in LaCrosse. LaCrosse is also renowned for multiple drownings of college-aged boys over the previous two decades. three days following Wohali’s sighting.

The latest “rash,” of which this drowning was the seventh, began in 1997, around the same time as the Reptile and Lizard man sightings. Are these animals omens of death? Or unrelated? It’s up to you. Another remarkable “coincidence” in cryptozoology. A big bird in Stillwater, MN, may have been a “Washington Eagle,” as reported by Biofort Blogger Scott Maruda on October 23, 2006. The Washington Eagle had a ten-foot wingspan, like the thing Wohali and his son witnessed, and a three-and-a-half-foot body length. It wouldn’t have had fangs or clawed wings like a bat.

Stillwater, on the same river, is roughly 70 miles north of Wohali. McManus witnessed the eagle-thing in 2004. Does this suggest Wohali spotted a Washington Eagle (also known as a marine eagle)? Generally, the description doesn’t fit. A similar trend arose with sightings of the Mothman of Point Pleasant, W. Virginia. Many witnesses saw other enormous birds, definitely birds, while the flying Mothman terrorised the region.

Could Mothman have travelled west to LaCrosse, making Wohali and his kid ill? The biggest resemblance is size, paired with both entities’ frightening tendency to shoot straight up into the air. A head, ears, and fangs were seen by Wohali, whereas the Mothman was described as having no distinct head, but enormous eyes that shone red when lit. A brief glance at a few reference books on my shelves revealed no references to instant nausea among Mothman witnesses. So I doubt Mothman has moved. I hope there aren’t any more Mothman connections that can be found, besides the one that has killed so many people, other than that.
