Everyone listen up. A woman being pregnant does not give you the right to comment on her body or what she’s doing with it.
Her pregnancy is not an invitation for you to offer your opinions on how she should behave or how she
should look. It’s her body. She decides. ‘Kay?
One woman has had enough of people constantly adding negative comments on pictures of her pregnant body.
Sydney Leroux Dwyer is a player on the U.S. women’s national soccer team. She’s an Olympic athlete, so she likes to keep active. She also happens to be pregnant.
And for some people, this is unacceptable.
People have been leaving cruel, judgmental comments on Sydney’s Instagram photos, – specifically the ones in which she’s exercising or being active – telling her that she’s going to ‘kill her baby’, that she was being irresponsible, and that she would ‘give birth to a dead baby’.
Which is all absolutely horrific, and definitely not the kind of thing people should be writing on a woman’s Instagram page.
We’re pretty sure that a professional athlete like Sydney knows how to look after her body. We also reckon she’s sought the advice of an expert to make sure exercising is okay.
So no, random people on the internet, Sydney really doesn’t need to hear your ‘advice’. She’s doing fine.
After the comments became too much, Sydney took to Instagram to educate the trolls on why they don’t have a right to comment on what she does with her body. It’s unfortunate that I have to say something but after a number of comments like: ‘you’re going to give birth to a dead fetus’ or ‘you just killed your baby’ I have to remind you that this is MY body,’ wrote Sydney on Instagram.
‘MY body is the body that is creating life. MY body is the one that has stretch marks and cellulite and varicose veins and sore hips and back pain that runs down my legs. MY body is the body that is tired and sore and emotional and the happiest it’s ever been.
‘So if I want to jump in a pool, go on a tube and slowly ride around with my husband, dance like an idiot or work out I am absolutely going to.
‘Leave your awful comments to yourself and let me enjoy MYSELF and MY body the way I want to.’
Bravo to that.
