Acer is coming with a new option on the gaming laptop market. It is called Acer Predator 15 and is probably one of the less bulky devices available in sale.
As we know, gaming laptops are not as good-looking as they should be. Probably, everyone is asking why these laptops are not as attractive as ultra-books or other 15-inch laptops that feature a minimalist design.
Of course, there isn’t a legitimate answer to this question, but all the red lights, plastic vents with shark-like fines and textured interior surfaces are part of a visual language that reveals the power of the interior components. Even the new Razer Blade, the best-looking gaming laptop on the market, features neon green logo of conjoined snakes situated on the back and an amazing pulsing lightshow keyboard.
So, the new Acer Predator 15 is an original gaming laptop, with an interesting look and also with some attractive parts of design. The best thing about this new gaming laptop is that it doesn’t try to copy other similar devices too closely.
However, probably the most attractive thing about this laptop is how the company has managed to fit a high-end Nvidia 980M gaming graphics card in a smaller 15-inch device. Most often, customers have seen the 980M and 970M cards in larger 17-inch models, but not in a 15-inch gaming laptop. The most used cards for a laptop like this are the mainstream-level Nvidia 960M graphics cards.
The configuration that customers will receive after buying the new Acer Predator 15 include: an Intel Core i7 6700HQ CPU, accompanied by 32GB of RAM and an amazing 512GB SSD couple with a 1TB HDD and of course, Nvidia 980M GPU. All this into a 15-inch laptop that costs 2,499 US dollars.
Of course, if customers think that this is a huge price they can also opt for a 1,999 US dollars version, but cutting the SSD to 256GB and receiving only 16GB of RAM. However, they can also keep the high-end CPU/GPU combo.
To be added that the lower price that customers could pay for a mainstream gaming laptop with the amazing Nvidia 980M card is approximately 1,600 dollars.
Another problem after including a huge graphics card, like Nvidia 980M, is the heat issue. So, Acer came up with some ideas to make sure that the system can take full advantages of its components without having any heat problems. The first idea was including an optical drive that can be swapped out for a fan module.
Probably, many users will leave the fan continuously there, because a laptop optical drive is not used so often any more. The second step is the DustDefender, a feature that Acer has included on its laptop and has the ability to alternate airflow direction on the internal fans to keep dust from building up.
Another interesting thing is the software that Acer has built-in on the laptop, which can monitor CPU and system temperature. Moreover, users will be able to manually set the fans up to maximum speed.
