The new Garmin Fenix 3 HR is one of the best GPS smartwatches

It started to be a habit for Garmin that when its engineers release a new watch technology they add it to their Fenix line of devices. The new Garmin Fenix 3 HR combines functionality of all the company’s specialty fitness, running and fitness watches.

So, when the company has released Elevate, known as its first-ever wrist-based optical heart rate monitoring feature, we must say that it was just a matter of time before it appeared in the Fenix line.

But, we must add that the new Garmin Fenix 3 HR is the perfect GPS smartwatch.

This new device comes with the look and feel of other models in this line. This means that Garmin Fenix 3 HR is bold, strong and features a silicone strap and outdoor action watch case.

The round display features a 218×218 pixel transflective color screen and it is protected by the company’s top-of-the-line Sapphire lens. Moreover, the display is surrounded by five buttons: two situated on the right and three on the left.

Another good thing to know is that the case is water resistant to 10 ATM or 100 meters. On the wrist, the new Garmin Fenix 3 HR looks like a regular watch. But, once the smartwatch is turned on the difference is obvious.

The back of the device features the company’s Elevate tech. This means that there is an optical heart rate monitor that has the mission to record and log users’ heart rate 24 hours a day. The optical sensor stretches up from the middle of the back of the device and three lights glow green when it searches a heartbeat.

But, the new Garmin Fenix 3 HR comes with other interesting things besides the heart rate sensor. For example, aside from showing the day and date, telling time, and displaying sunrise and sunset times, the new Garmin Fenix 3 HR also sports a load of sensors including GPS.

So, the new Garmin Fenix 3 HR has the ability to display barometric altimeter, electronics compass, barometer, accelerometer, heart rate monitor, and a thermometer.

Moreover, Garmin’s new smartwatch also tacks and logs daily quantified life metrics like calories burned, steps, sleep quality and stairs climbed. So, this watch can be considered a fitness science data center on users’ wrist.

To be added that the new Garmin Fenix 3 HR also comes with the company’s latest Fenix 3 software upgrade. This new OS is specialized in legacy functions for swimming, cycling, triathlons, open water swimming, and hiking.

Moreover, the new OS also includes data capture settings specifically designed for skiing/snowboarding, rowing, standup padding and golf. To be added that the new golf feature will allow users to download course data giving them real time distances to the front and middle of the green.

Once the box is open, customers will also see that the company offers besides the watch a black silicone band, an AC adapter, and a USB/charging cable.
