Terrifying Legend of Gozu: A Story You Shouldn’t Tell

Gozu, which means “cow’s head” in Japanese, is a chilling urban legend. This story is so terrifying that it is said to be forbidden to tell. Those who dare to share it often face tragic consequences.

The School Trip

The legend begins with a school trip. A bus full of students and their teacher was on the way to a destination. The students were rowdy and noisy, making it hard for the teacher to maintain order. Frustrated, he decided to look out the window for a moment of peace. As he gazed outside, he spotted a dead cow by the roadside.

Suddenly, he noticed a quiet student being bullied by his classmates. To regain control, the teacher announced he would tell them a horror story. Instantly, the students fell silent, eager to hear what he had to say.

The Horror Story

The teacher began his tale: “Once, there was a man whose house was destroyed by a flood. He, his wife, and son set out on a journey to find another village. It was freezing, so the man decided to go ahead alone to seek help. He found a dead cow and made a shelter out of it for his wife and son. Afterward, he continued to the village.”

“When he arrived, the villagers welcomed him warmly, offering food and shelter. However, the next day, he woke up with a high fever. He insisted on returning to save his family. The villagers tried to stop him, but he was determined.”

“As he made his way back, he began to hallucinate. He thought the dead cow was alive and that his family was trapped inside it. In a fit of madness, he attacked the cow, mistakenly killing his wife in the process. He then wore the cow’s head and began chasing his son, blaming him for the tragedy.”

“The son found refuge in a village, where the people protected him and ultimately killed the father. When the son grew up, he wrote down the story but tore the pages to prevent anyone from knowing it. However, anyone who finds those pages is said to be traumatized by the tale.”

As the teacher finished, the students looked shocked. But the quiet boy spoke up, saying, “That’s not how it went.”

Shocking Revelation

Everyone turned to him in surprise. The teacher asked how he knew the story was wrong. The boy replied, “I found the pages.” He then began to read from the paper, his voice sounding eerie and possessed.

Aftermath

Hours passed, and the school bus did not return. Worried parents reported the situation to the police. When officers investigated, they discovered the bus had fallen into a ditch.

Tragically, everyone on board had succumbed to the trauma of the story. The driver lost control and crashed into the ditch. The students were found unconscious, foaming at the mouth, while the driver lay slumped over the wheel, sweating and shaking.

The bus had crashed just a few miles from where the teacher had seen the dead cow. The legend of Gozu had claimed another group of victims.

Conclusion

The story of Gozu serves as a haunting reminder of the power of urban legends. It combines elements of horror, tragedy, and the supernatural, captivating those who hear it.

If you ever hear someone mention Gozu, remember the chilling tale and the consequences of sharing it. Some stories are better left untold. What do you think about this urban legend? Have you heard any other creepy tales? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
