The passing of Queen Elizabeth will bring about a lot of changes in Britain. The nation’s currency, passports, stamps, and post boxes National Anthem will all be altered.
Queen Elizabeth dies: What happens?
On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II, who governed the UK for seven decades, passed away. Charles, her oldest son, will become the future King of Britain as a result. However, there will be a lot of changes in the nation following the passing of Queen Elizabeth. Changes will be made to the a line from the national anthem, nation’s currency, passports, stamps, and post offices. Although the British government has not made an official declaration about this, it has long been a custom that these adjustments occur when a new emperor assumes control of the nation.
British New Currency:
For the past 1100 years, the Royal Mint has been issuing money in Britain. printing the emperor’s image on coins and banknotes. Following Elizabeth II’s coronation as monarch in 1952, coins and banknotes with her likeness were released in Britain and the Commonwealth of Nations. Every ten years, new coins were produced in her honour. However, the country’s currency will change now that King Charles 3 has been crowned as the next King of Britain. Charles’ image will be printed on coins and financial notes.
The portrait of Charles will be on the left side of the recently issued notes, as opposed to the current practise of Queen Elizabeth’s image being on the right. For the past 300 years, it has been customary to place the queen or king’s pictures on banknotes facing the outgoing monarchs. The Bank of England has been printing images of Queen Elizabeth on its banknotes since 1956.
British National Anthem:
For the past 70 years, Brits have sung “God Save the Queen” as their anthem. This tune will now also change. The Queen will be replaced by Charles as King after he ascends to the throne. While this is the national anthem of New Zealand, it is also the royal hymn of Australia and Canada. It appears that the new national anthem will be “God save our gracious King! Long live our noble King! God save the King! Send him victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us, God save the King” Now, those nations will also experience transformation.
The name of the king will be changed to that of the queen on British passports. This will also affect Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand passports. The Queen’s symbol will also change on UK postal stamps and police officer caps in addition to this. The King’s Guard will also replace the Queen’s Guard outside Buckingham Palace.
