nWhatncould be more American than cheeseburgers?

n

n
n

n

nItnappears clear that the cheeseburger was indeed invented in the U.S.,nbut exactly when and by whom, there are a lot of claims. All thenclaims date back to the 1920s and 1930s. n

n

n
n

n

nInpersonally like this story, because I grew up in Pasadena,nCalifornia:

n

n
n

n

nOncenupon a time, a fellow named Lionel Sternberger was working in hisndad’s sandwich shop in (you guessed it) Pasadena, California. Inn1926, he decided to try an experiment, and he dropped a slice ofnAmerican cheese onto a sizzling hamburger patty. n

n

n
n

n

nOfncourse, he decided it was yum!, others agreed, and the rest isnhistory!

Celebrate!

  • nIn-N-Outn Burgers are so popular – especially their double cheeseburgers –n that many communities celebrate when one opens there. Some reallyn famous chefs like Julia Child, Hell’sn Kitchen‘sn Gordon Ramsey, and chef-TV personality Anthony Bourdain love then place!

  • nOnn the cartoon Popeye, the character Wimpy really LOVES hamburgers. Itn doesn’t look like there is any cheese on his burgers, but the fastn food chain called Wimpy, in his honor, certainly sells loads ofn cheeseburgers!
