Barbara Schaal, President of The American Association for the Advance of Science says scientists are worried and anxious about their future. The fear is that funds will be removed from basic research which forms the basis for technological developments. Since the election of new US President Donald Trump, there has been silence regarding science and no appointment of a science advisor.  Meanwhile, members of congress are prepared to state they don’t accept the climate is changing and if they do, they don’t accept that human activity is a major contributor. This is part of the outrage as climate science is not a political construct.
