S. Chandrasekhar is the first astrophysicist,Nobel Prize winner

 on Thursday celebrated the 107th birth anniversary of Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, India’s nobel prize winning astrophysicist and mathematician, with a doodle. Chandrasekhar, born in Lahore (now Pakistan) on October 19, 1910, was one of 10 children born to C Subrahmanyan Ayyar who worked with the Northwestern Railways. Nobel prize winner physicist C V Raman was his paternal uncle.

At an early age, Chandrasekhar decided that he wanted to be a scientist. He was tutored at home in Mathematics and Physics and went on to pursue a Bachelors degree in Physics from the Presidency College in Madras in 1930. He completed his PhD degree from Cambridge in 1933.
