PSG sporting director Leonardo has admitted there’s a huge possibility he could loss Kylian Mbappe next season.
The 20-year-old is desperate to win the Champions League and cement his position as the world best player but, he can’t see that happening at PSG who are now tagged ‘the whopping boys of Europe’.
To complicate matters, Mbappe has reportedly rejected a contract extension while reaffirming his stance to ditch the club to Liverpool Real Madrid if they fail to win the Champions League next season.
Leonardo was asked if Mbappe will stay beyond next season and he said:
“I don’t make promises”, Leonardo told L’Equipe.
“For two reasons. Firstly because i don’t represent everyone at the club and secondly, because i don’t make promises without being sure i can fulfill them.
“The only ting that interests me is the presents, the now”.
Asked if Mbappe wants to leave PSG because he wants to play as a central striker which is currently occupied by Edinson Cavani.
Leonardo added; “If you look at the careers of some of the greats, you see that they’ve played in various positions.
“It was the case with Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronalod played on the left, on the right and up front. Ronaldinho played in various positions.
“A player like Mbappe can do what he wants. Play in whatever position. He has lots of qualities, he’s agile, quick and technically gifted. He’s a good goalscorer, he’s intelligent.. he has it all”.
Although signing Mbappe won’t be cheap, he will cost any club interested in him $180m to $230m to sign.
