Its done, Antoine Griezmann has joined Barcelona after his representatives deposited £108m to the La Liga office which in turn will be deposited to the selling club which happens to be Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann, a predominate a left forward has now signed a five year contract worth £230,000-a-week with Barcelona. He also signed a release clause believed to be £717m, crazy right!
But with 133 goals in 257 appearances for the Rojiblancos you should expect the diminutive attacker to make an instant impact at Camp Nou.
His arrival without doubt won’t bode well with Philippe Coutnho who currently lacks the trust of his club manager Ernesto Valverde who has requested another central midfielder be bought {Frenkie De Jong} to provide him the balance in midfielder and now, a left forward who offers not just pace and goals but creativity as well as versatility.
Antoine is a world class upgrade on Philippe Coutinho which means the Brazilian will certainly be a bench warmer next season. To make things worst, Barcelona are working tirelessly to resign Neymar who is another left forward and a far better player than him.
Coutinho knows he is in big trouble at Barcelona and must now make another life changing decision like he did two years ago with Liverpool.
If he stays at Barcelona he will risk his position with Brazilian national team and if he leaves to PSG or wherever, will just be described as another journey man who failed to ‘cut out’ in Europe’s biggest clubs.
