U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Qualifying Lineup
The U.S. women’s gymnastics team lineup for qualifying at the 2024 Paris Olympics includes no surprises. Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles join Simone Biles in competing in the all-around. Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera, the team’s youngest member at 16 and the only one not returning from a previous Olympics, will each perform in two events today:

- Floor Exercise: Lee, Chiles, Carey, Biles
- Vault: Lee, Chiles, Carey, Biles

Katie Ledecky Shines in 400m Freestyle Qualifying Heat
Katie Ledecky won her qualifying heat for the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:02.19 and will go for the gold in the event final later today. Swimming alongside her top rival, Australian Ariarne Titmus, Ledecky swam a consistent race, trailing Titmus early but outkicking her in the final 50 meters to win by 0.1 seconds. Paige Madden also qualified for the final with the sixth-fastest time in her heat.
American Rowers Advance in Single Sculls
Jacob Plihal and Kara Kohler advanced to the quarterfinal round of the single sculls. Plihal, rowing in the fourth heat of the men’s single sculls, covered the course in 6:54.95, finishing second. Kohler won the sixth heat with a time of 7:32.46. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Tuesday morning.
USA Shooting Comes Up Short in Air Rifle Mixed Event
In the 10-meter air rifle mixed competition, Team USA did not advance past the qualifying stage. Mary Tucker and Rylan Kissell finished 13th with a combined score of 626, while Sagen Maddalena and Ivan Roe finished 18th with a score of 624.9. All four American shooters will compete in the 10-meter rifle individual and 50-meter rifle three-position events later in the Games.
Men’s Street Skateboarding Postponed Due to Rain
The men’s street skateboarding preliminaries and finals, initially scheduled for today, have been postponed to Monday due to rain. The U.S. has strong contenders in six-time world champion Nyjah Hutson and Tokyo bronze medalist Jagger Eaton. Chris Joslin will also represent the U.S. in men’s street. The women’s street preliminary and final rounds are set for Sunday at Place de la Concorde.
