According to the story, the youths threw the carcass into a nearby lake but subsequently returned to photograph it. The photographs have yet to be examined by experts. Locals, however, told Panamanian news outlets that the water monster was “Gollum from the Lord of the Rings.” One of them said, “I have only seen that creature once before, and it was in the Tolkien film.”

Smeagol, the fictional Gollum, was a hobbit whose eventual name was taken from the “disgusting gurgling, choking cough he made.” JRR Tolkien, the author of the Middle Earth adventures, described the character as “deformed and twisted in both body and mind by the corruption of the Ring.”

“His only desire was to possess the ring that had enslaved him, and he pursued it for many years after he lost it.” The internet is buzzing with debate about whether the “monster” is a shaved sloth or a pit bull terrier.

Gollum’s obsession with the ring consumed him to the point where he became unrecognizable, driven solely by his insatiable desire for its power. This debate surrounding Gollum’s appearance reflects the enduring fascination and speculation surrounding his character in popular culture.
