OnePlus 5 will come with dual camera, seamless back cover, specifications

Exclusive: OnePlus 5 will come with dual camera, seamless back cover

onePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 5. There have been many rumours and leaks regarding the phone but now India Today Tech can confirm that the phone will have a dual camera on its back. For now no other details about the phone are known, although it is expected that the OnePlus 5 will launch in the next two months and it will hit key markets like India and China at the same time.

The image of the phone, which mcnnow Tech has sourced from people who have seen the phone and have possibly worked on the OnePlus 5, also shows that the phone may retain the design that consumers first saw in the OnePlus 3T. This means the OnePlus 5 too will have the similar metal frame made of brushed aluminium and will possibly have the similar rounded edges. Also considering the fact that the phone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner on the back means it will have that sensor under the screen on the front.

But there is one major change: the OnePlus 5 does have the same antenna lines that are there on the OnePlus 3T. Instead, its rear cover looks seamless. If this seamless back cover is indeed part of the final design of the phone, chances are that the OnePlus 5 will look pretty stunning, although it may also lose some of its “edginess” and “industrial looks” that the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T sport. The OnePlus 5 is also expected to come in grey, gold and black colours.

After the blockbuster success of the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T, the upcoming OnePlus 5 is an important phone for the company. With the OnePlus 5, OnePlus needs to show that its success in 2016 was no flash in a pan and that it can sustain the momentum. Along with the dual camera, it is also almost certain that OnePlus 5 will come with Oxygen OS based on Android Nougat. Already, the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T use Android Nougat as the base for their software.

According to our sources, one important thing to note about this OnePlus 5 image is that the design is not final yet. Some aspects of the design may change as OnePlus tweaks the phone ahead of its possible launch in June.

The dual camera feature is particularly important because it will help OnePlus 5 match or beat phones like the iPhone 7 Plus, and now the Xiaomi Mi 6, that use similar dual cameras to offer features like a telephoto lens and portrait blur mode. Although for now, there are no specific details of the image sensors inside the OnePlus or what kind of lenses it will use. Though we have heard that the front camera will be the same 16-megapixel shooter that made debut on the OnePlus 3T.

The dual camera will also help OnePlus 5 users click better low-light photos. It is possible that with the dual camera in its flagship phone, OnePlus may use the same method that Huawei’s Honor 8 and Micromax Dual 5 use during low light to create images that have better colours and more contrast.
