Are you excited for the new year? UFO aficionados may have even more cause to celebrate the New Year in 2011. A number of sightings have been reported all across the globe on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. But proceed with care! There are a lot of objects floating about in the sky that might make you confused. The rising tendency of putting up Chinese lanterns is most likely to blame. Last New Year’s Eve was a busy one, as the following accounts indicate.
From his porch in Santa Cruz, CA, a witness videotaped a “UFO.” Some speculate that the bright orange item was nothing more than a Chinese lantern. Video from Santa Cruz:

For the second year in a row, a Florida couple witnesses a UFO on New Year’s Eve. They were able to capture it on camera this time. You guessed correctly! The sky was filled with more reddish-orange lights. Video from Florida
