Sam Allardyce has been officially confirmed as the new England manager to replace Roy Hodgson.
The 61-year-old leaves Premier League side Sunderland to take up the role with the Three Lions, in what is undoubtedly the biggest job of his career so far.
The new man at the helm has signed an initial two-year contract to take him up to the end of the next World Cup, though there is an option for an extension.
Links with Allardyce have been met with disappointment and surprise by some supporters, though itโs clear a change has been necessary for the national side after their shock Euro 2016 elimination by minnows Iceland.
Unlike his predecessor Hodgson, it canโt be said that Allardyce doesnโt know his preferred system or tactics, with the former West Ham and Bolton boss known for a strong commitment to efficient, defensive football throughout his career.

Having worked wonders with Bolton back in the early 2000s, Allardyce had been under consideration for the England job in 2006 before it eventually went to Steve McClaren.
Known for his outspoken style, โBig Samโ has often described himself as being more ideally suited for a top job such as Real Madrid or Inter Milan than with the mid-table sides and relegation strugglers he has largely worked with in his career so far.
He will now lead England in their bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, beating fellow Englishman Steve Bruce to the post.
