Manchester City have agreed to sell Brazilian starlet Douglas Luiz to Aston Villa for £15m.
The 21-year-old joined City from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama for £10.7m back in 2017 before leaving on loan to Spanish club Girona where he proved his class and self determination to improve..
His impressive display caught Pep Guardiola’s attention who believed he had what it takes to become Fernandinho’s long term successor but, due to work permit, Luiz couldn’t join City and had to be loaned back to Girona.
With Rodri now at the club, City have no other option than to sell him to Aston Villa for £15m but did include a buyback clause he case he develops remarkably well like former PSV star Angelino.
Luiz unfortunately will be second permanent departure of the week to have never played for City’s first team. The first is Pablo Mari who completed a move to Brazilian club Flamengo on Thursday.
