November 18 – Oman's National Day

Posted on November 18, 2020

Oman is a small nation located in Asia, or more specifically in the western part of Asia that we often call “the Middle East.” Even more specifically, Oman is on the coast of the Arabian Peninsula, located in an important and strategic place: at the mouth of the Persian Gulf.

Oman was super powerful from the late 1600s until the late 1800s, and it is still an important center of trade, tourism, and agriculture. It is an absolute monarchy, which means that there are no constitutional constraints on its ruler, who is called “sultan” rather than king or emperor.

Oman’s capital, Muscat, has some amazing architecture, including the Royal Opera House and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
