nThat’snthe motto of this Book-It program, which offers an onlinenstory every day this week! Today it’s The House in the Night, nand the rest of the week includes The Emperor’s Egg, ThenLittle Red Hen and the Ear of Wheat, and Epossumondas.nEach story is read aloud with music and sound effects, and the wordsnlight up as they are read. The website also offers a “printablenpack” and “read and do activity” for each of these books.

nJustnas there is a lot of variation about when kids learn to walk andntalk, kids learn to read at different ages. But even really littlenkids can enjoy books. There are wordless books, and there books onntape (and CD and computers and so on and so forth). Best of all in mynmind is read-aloud opportunities. Whether it’s a little kid sittingnon his mommy’s lap while listening to Are You My Mother? fornthe four-hundredth time, or several kids in bed listening to theirndaddy read The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses for the firstntime—whether it’s a librarian reading aloud Make Way fornDucklings or an older child reading aloud The Monster at thenEnd of This Book—read-aloud sessions can be great fun forneverybody!
