Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti has played down the euphoria after his team defeated Liverpool 3-0 at the Murray field in Edinburgh on Sunday Evening.
The straightforward win was strange to Carlo Ancelotti who frankly expected Jurgen Klopp’s men to fight or least press them to death then give up so easy.
But despite the victory, Ancelotti still feels Liverpool have won in their tank to spring out surprise. First this is pre-season training and so of the players don’t take it serious, even though the big guys {captain Jordan Henderson and vice captain James Milner} did and get the team the hair dryer treatment afterwards.
Secondly, Liverpool’s main attackers Mohamed Salah, Roberto Fimrino and Sadio Mane didn’t play including the world best keeper Alisson Becker.
Ancelotti was asked if Liverpool is good enough to win the Premier League title this season and he had this to say:
“To win helps to win”, Ancelotti started philosophically, “Liverpool won last year, they have the quality to continue to win, to be competitive.
For sure, Liverpool will be competitive with the squad that they have in Champions League and also in the Premier League. To win? I don’t know. You have more difficult to solve when you lose than when you win. Every season has its own history, i don’t know what will happen this year.
“Liverpool haven’t changed their squad a lot, but they don’t have their three most important players so you can’t judge their team at this moment’.
Liverpool will play Lyon next in Geneva before facing Manchester City in the Community Shield.
