Residents of Brunswick County, North Carolina, are on edge due to a series of mysterious dog attacks. Reports from AP News reveal that a predator is targeting local pets, with the latest victim being a pit bull named Rosie and her two puppies. Sadly, while Rosie survived, her puppies were found dead.
Veterinarians examined Rosie and discovered tiny puncture wounds on her body, but no bullets were present. This has left experts puzzled about what could have caused her injuries. The lack of clear evidence has led locals to nickname the unknown creature the “Beast of Bolivia.”
So far, no one has seen this elusive predator. Experts speculate that it could be a bear, panther, cougar, bobcat, or even a wolf. Animal investigators have been examining tracks and droppings found in the area, but they have yet to identify the creature responsible for these attacks.
Some residents have raised concerns that exotic animals may have escaped from a local zoo, which previously housed lions and tigers before closing over a year ago. Richard Cooper, the Director of Brunswick County Animal Services, stated, “The investigation is at a standstill until we get a confirmed sighting. When we have something solid to go on, we’ll ask the Wildlife Resources Commission to get involved.”
For now, the Beast of Bolivia seems to have a particular interest in canines, leaving pet owners worried about their furry friends. As the investigation continues, locals remain vigilant, hoping for answers about this mysterious predator.
