Jose Mouirnho has called on Frank Lampard to go back to the drawing board and work on the pattern of his team’s play.
Chelsea was ruthlessly exposed by a vibrant Manchester United side that had the legs and hunger to pile pressure and score goals . United ended the game with four goals but, it could be avoided if Lampard has followed the basics of football.
His team failed to be compact and defend like a collectively unit when they lose the ball. The main attackers Abraham, Pedro and Barkley were upfront leaving others to do the defending which unfortunately exposed the average back-line.
“Chelsea failed to be compact, they had 4 players in attack and 6 behind when they don’t have ball,” Mourinho told reporters.
“You can’t do that now in modern football. You’ve to defend collectively or you create openings which the other team will use to score against you.
“Lampard must know now that his team is not compact and they don’t know how to defend. If he dosen’t fix against Liverpool, they will lose the UEFA Super Cup”.
