Jose Mourinho might not have had the greatest relationship with Pep Guardiola during his managerial days but, the Portuguese knows an exceptional manager when he sees one.
Pep has proven in the last two season’s that he is one of the best manager the Premier League season having clinched back to back Premier League along with the treble.
He is the first manager in Premier League history to win the Community Shield, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Caraboa Cup in a single season.
Mourinho is not only impressed with how his team is set up to attack but also defensively. What they do when they lose the ball and how quick they press to recover it.
“The best team in England last season was Manchester City, in a pragmatic”, Mourinho told Sky Sports.
“Liverpool too, but let’s focus on Man City- they won three titles in the domestic league. Don’t you think they are very good when they don’t have the ball? I think they are phenomenal.
“They way they defend, the way they react when they don’t have the ball, their defensive transition- i think they are phenomenal. A top team has to be complete in the four moments of the game- possession, non-possession, defensive transition and attack”.
City will play Tottenham Hotspur next on Saturday but first, Pep Guardiola and Roberto Martinez will both be taking charge of City’s old players and All star in Vincent Kompany’s testimonial on Wednesday.
