Matthew Hayden quits cricket

Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket and will not play in Australia’s domestic Twenty20 Big Bash League (BBL) series this year.

Hayden, 40, who already took retirement from Test cricket in 2009 said, “I will be pursuing my initial intention and agreement with the Heat of moving from the pitch to the boardroom, where I hope to continue to make a meaningful contribution to the Big Bash League and the Brisbane Heat.

In his 103 Tests career, Hayden scored 8,625 runs with 30 centuries. He also played 161 one-day internationals for Australia.
