nOnenday this Romanian-French Canadian artist walked into her printmakingnstudio and picked up her work gloves. Instead of pulling them ontonher hands before she started inking her printing plate, as we wouldnexpect, as she had done every other day, she placed the gloves ontonthe plate and ran them through the press!

nThengloves themselves became the design! Her prints of her work glovesnturned out to look almost like x-rays of the gloves.

nGoodwin’snprints were created in the 1960s, but this artistncreated a variety of works, using a variety of media, in a careernthat spanned decades. Born in Betty Roodish in Montreal on this datenin 1923, Goodwin did collages and assemblages. She sculpted, shendrew, she painted. She did printmaking and etching. She also did someninstallation art, which is when artists create three-dimensionalnworks that are site-specific, such as installing huge forms viewersnmust walk among in a museum gallery.

n In read that Goodwin’s ideas came from clusters of photographs,n objects, and drawings she put up on the walls of her studio. We cann all benefit from this idea; start collecting pictures and objectsn that speak to you, that intrigue you, and draw from them (literallyn and figuratively).
