Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has slammed his former club and Jurgen Klopp for giving Divock Origi a new contract.
Nicol still believes Origi is not good for Liverpool neither does he posses the quality to step up in the absence of Roberto Firmino.
Origi has been handed a four year contract after scoring last goal winners against Everton, Newcastle, Barcelona and the biggest of all Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.
But Nicol is not satisfied and had this to say when asked about the contract extension.
“I was asked this question whether they should resign him and i said no”, Nicol told ESPN.
“I don’t think Origi is any better today than he was. He’s 24 now, he joined Liverpool when he was 19.
“If Klopp wants to give Firmino a rest for example and you play Origi, the level drops so far down. That’s my problem”.
Origi is currently with the first team and will play Tranmere Rovers tonight.
