Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has called on Jurgen Klopp not to make the mistake of not improving the squad.
The Reds were close to winning the Premier League title last season having accumulated 97 points, 1 points less than the league champions- Manchester City- but, they did win the Champions League after beating Tottentham 2-0 in the final.
Souness feels Liverpool should sign a striker to replace the departed Daniel Sturridge and a attacking midfielder who possess zest and creativity to replace the long departed Philippe Coutinho.
“Sturridge is gone. They are a bit light up front. They need a bit more creativity in midfield too”, Souness told BT Sport.
“The players they have in midfield are workaholics but they maybe need someone to change things up. Pre-season is not important. It’s about getting players fit. Their season doesn’t start on Sunday, it starts next Friday.
“The game is important but it’s all about getting through the match and preparing for the season ahead. I think Liverpool and City will be battling again this season”.
Liverpool will play Manchester City next in the Community Shield on Sunday before tackling Norwich City in the Premier League.
