nApparentlynFlanders (the northern part of Belgium) is pretty much the only placenin the world in which people still catch shrimp on horseback.

nThisntraditional “fishing” style involves riding into the ocean onnhorseback—nice and slowly—and when the horses are chest-deep innwater, using nets to scoop up tiny gray shrimp. This traditionalnpractice is celebrated this weekend in the town of Oostduinkerke, innthe Shrimp Festival. Tourists come from all over to watch thenhorseback fishing—and of course to eat the shrimp!
