In addition, other automobilenpioneers took advantage of Detroit’s position as a transportationnhub..including William C. Durant, the Dodge brothers, the Packards,nand Walter Chrysler.

• Motown…anhugely popular and influential record company founded in Detroit bynBerry Gordy, Jr. The Motown sound played an important role in racialnintegration of popular music, as it enjoyed success with all sorts ofnaudiences. Some of the biggest names in Motown were Diana Ross &nThe Supremes, The Four Tops, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, MarvinnGaye, and The Temptations.
