Joliet: A Cursed and Haunted Doll
A single family has gone through the same catastrophe four times. The tale of their family is both sad and unsettling.
In this family, a doll by the name of Joliet has been handed down from mother to daughter for more than a century. They think this doll is haunted and cursed at the same time. Why then do they maintain Joliet?
The simple explanation is that they believe this doll is connected to their son’s spirit. The doll’s current owner, a woman by the name of Anna, has gone through the same tragedy as her mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Each woman gave birth to a son and a girl. Three days after their birth, each son passed away. After birth, each son appeared to be in good health, therefore their demise is puzzling.
The family feels cursed because of the doll. When Anna’s great-grandmother became pregnant, Joliet was given to her as a present.
But this present was given out of resentment rather than affection. The family of the great grandmother believes Joliet is cursed with a nasty bitterness that causes them bad luck because the great grandmother’s husband insulted this woman.
So once more, why do they maintain a doll that they think will kill them?
The four mothers had all heard Joliet sob. These cries resemble the cries of their son. For this doll makes four different sounds as it cries.
The cry of Anna’s great-grandmother’s son was recognized, as was the cry of her daughter and her mother’s son. Anna hears four unique cries in the current generation, which she interprets as the laments of the four family sons who have passed away.
These cries might be heard singly or in groups depending on the situation. Since they are the only ones to have ever heard these screams, all four moms have had difficulty persuading people that Joliet is home to at least some of their sons’ souls.
Even creepier, some mothers have been reminded of their terrible losses by these cries.If her daughter will hear five cries, Anna wonders. Unfathomable.
However, they still have the doll because they think family ghosts are rumored to haunt it.
