Johnny Depp has spoken out for the first time since news of his shock divorce broke.
Amber Heard filed for divorce from the movie star earlier this week, just three days after his mother passed
away and just 15 months after they married in a ceremony on his private island in the Bahamas.
Five days after the split, Johnny has finally given a statement, saying he hopes the divorce is over ‘quickly’.
His reps said: ‘Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life.
‘Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.’
A source told MailOnline that the split is likely to be ‘awful’ as there is residual bitterness between the pair.
The insider said: ‘This is potentially going to be an awful split. Amber is already playing this shrewdly, and she has a lot that she can say.’
The site also claims that Amber is likely to get between £10m and £35m in the settlement as they did not have a pre-nup.
Things could be turning nasty as rumours of Amber being ‘hated’ by his family have surfaced. His late mother reportedly believe Amber was using Johnny to further her career and a source told TMZ ‘Johnny’s two children, two sisters and his mum hated Amber’. His mother is said to have thought she ‘treated him like crap’.
Tensions are said to have risen when Johnny moved his ailing mum into their marital home.
However, Amber’s camp denied a family feud, saying she got on well with Johnny’s son Jack and even visited his mother in hospital, although no mention was made of her relationship with Lily-Rose.
‘Amber was by Betty Sue’s side during this illness and regularly visited her in the hospital,’ a friend of Amber’s told People magazine.
When Heard filed for divorce she also requested ongoing spousal support to fund the lifestyle she’s grown used to, and that Johnny cover her legal fees. The actor is said to be fighting the requests tooth and nail by hiring top celeb divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who’s acted for the likes of Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears.
