Iran Anti Hijab: Execution of 2 Protesters, Demonstrations fill Central Tehran

In protest against the Iranian regime’s execution of two men on charges of killing a Basij member during unprecedented protests sparked by the death of the Kurdish young woman, Mahsa Amini, demonstrations took place in the center of the capital, Tehran, on Saturday.

The demonstrators chanted, “There are a thousand people behind each one who is killed,” according to Iran International Channel

Death by hanging

It is noteworthy that , earlier, on Saturday, Iran carried out two death sentences against Muhammad Mahdi Karmi and Muhammad Hosseini for the murder of Ruhollah Ajamian, a member of the Basij on November 3, 2022 in Karaj, west of Tehran.

The two executions were carried out by hanging despite a campaign by international human rights groups to pardon the two men.

Minutes after the execution, Mohamed Hossein Agassi, a lawyer appointed by the family of Mohamed Mehdi Karami, wrote in a tweet that he had been executed “without being allowed to meet his family for the last time.

It is noteworthy that since the beginning of the protests on September 16, 2022, the Iranian judiciary has sentenced 14 people to death for their association with the demonstrations, according to an AFP tally based on official information.

Of these, the death sentence was carried out against 4 people, and the Supreme Court confirmed two rulings against two others, while 6 new trials are awaiting, and two others can appeal.

On December 12, 2022, Majid Reza Rahnavard and Mohsen Shakari were executed by hanging, after being convicted of assaulting members of the security forces, which sparked international outrage and the imposition of new Western sanctions on Iran
