IPL 2016: England’s Jos Buttler bought by Mumbai Indians

England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler will play for the reigning champions Mumbai Indians in the 9th edition of Indian Premier League after the mega-rich club bought him for £385,000 in the IPL 2016 auction.

The 25-year-old has decided to play in the highly lucrative and popular Twenty20 domestic competition in India after losing his Test place to Jonny Bairstow.

Cricket fans will be hoping that a few tweaks here and there will be enough to allow them to enjoy next Indian Premier League without too much nail-biting.

Elsewhere, Shane Watson, who is currently the world No. 1 all-rounder in T20I went on the highest bid as Royal Challengers Bangalore paid more than £950,000 for the 34-year-old Australian.

Kevin Pietersen was sold to newly launched side Rising Pune Supergiants for £350,000.

However, Ravi Bopara and Sam Billings were unsold by the end of the first round of the auction.

The 2016 edition of IPL is scheduled to run after the ICC World Twenty20 between April 9 and May 31.
