Heartwarming photo shows father and son cradling newborn twins on bare chests

A heartwarming image of premature twins resting on their brother and father’s chest has got the internet talking about skin to skin care.

The practice involves putting poorly babies on another person, which apparently helps to regulate their temperature and improves their breathing.
This is what the small boy and his father were doing in the image from Belgium, which was posted on Facebook by NINO Birth.
‘The parent’s chest regulates the temperature better than an incubator,’ wrote the South African organisation, which promotes the ‘kangaroo care’ practice.
‘Skin to skin contact helps the baby to breathe better. The child becomes calmer and gains weight faster.’
Facebook user Jennifer McClung Basinger added: ‘We did this with our son. Every chance there was, the nurses would put Cameron on our bare chests.
‘We were told that he would feel our bodies working and it would remind his to work. Don’t know if it’s true or not but I have a huge, healthy teenager!’
The image of the family engaging in skin to skin care has thousands of shares and likes on Facebook.
