Former External Affairs Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s strongman Sushma Swaraj died of a heart attack late on Tuesday night. She was 67 years old. Sushma Swaraj is survived by her husband Rajkaushal and her daughter. On Tuesday evening, he had a heart attack by tweeting to the Central Government, hours after congratulating him on removing Article 370. According to hospital sources, he was admitted to AIIMS at 10.15 am in a very critical condition.

Sushma Swaraj decided not to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 due to her health reasons. He underwent kidney transplant from AIIMS in April 2016. Just three hours before his health worsened on Tuesday evening, Sushma Swaraj tweeted congratulating the Central Government, ‘Narendra Modi, thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was looking forward to this day in my whole life. ‘

On the death of Sushma Swaraj, the Prime Minister tweeted with a heavy heart, saying, ‘A golden era of Indian politics has come to an end. The whole of India has been mourned by these talented leaders. The Prime Minister tweeted condolences for Sushma, who was one of the best performing ministers in the Rajgovernment, saying, ‘Sushma ji was a brilliant speaker and an extraordinary MP.

He will always be appreciated and respected above party boundaries. When there was a matter of ideology and the interests of the BJP, she would never compromise. Several Union ministers including Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Nitin Gadkari came to see him while being admitted to the ICU in AIIMS. Sushma Swaraj was an important link between the government and the public.

She came out as a foreign minister, always being a troubleshooter for Indians trapped abroad. His activism in social media and on many occasions in the United Nations, he strongly favored India. She had the distinction of being the first woman spokesperson of a party, the first young woman MP, the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi and the first woman foreign minister.
