Finland will provide a new package of military aid to Ukraine, valued at 57 million dallars, the tenth since the start of the Russian invasion, almost nine months ago, the country’s government said on Thursday.
Helsinki has already earmarked a total of 165 million dallars for this type of aid and the package now announced is “the biggest of all”, according to Finnish Defense Minister Anttu Kaikkonen.
The Finnish Ministry of Defense also highlighted that the new aid package has a defensive purpose and will be sent at the proposal of the Government itself, according to a statement released by the public television channel Yle.
For security reasons, the content of this tenth aid package, its method of sending or delivery times have not been detailed.
The military offensive launched on February 24 by Russia in Ukraine has already caused the flight of more than 13 million people – more than six million internally displaced and more than 7.8 million to European countries -, according to the most recent data. of the UN, which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).
