FIFA WC 2022: South Korea hopes to get off to a good start against Uruguay

Uruguay vs. South Korea in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Son Heung-min has been picked to South Korea’s starting XI for their opening World Cup encounter against Uruguay on Thursday, despite wearing a mask following face surgery.
The Spurs forward and South Korean captain underwent surgery earlier this month after suffering a fracture around his left eye in a Champions League clash.

“Son is capable of playing and will be capable of playing,” Bento remarked on Wednesday. It remains to be known how much of the South Korean talisman will be used, with the Portuguese manager warning: “He understands, and we know, that after this injury, we cannot take any chances.” Son, 30, has been exercising in Qatar while wearing a mask, and South Korean supporters have been impatiently awaiting updates on his fitness.
