The film was planned for an OTT release only on HBO Max but Warner Bros. Pictures in August 2022 was set for a theatrical release as part of a plan to restructure the film’s distribution at Warner Bros.
That worked out for Evil Dead fans as horror films are more suitable for viewing in theaters than online. To track progress, in June 2020 Bruce Campbell revealed the news that Lee Cronin was assisting with directing duties while he and Sam Raimi would serve as executive producers on the project under their production house Ghose House Pictures.
Later production began on 6 June 2021 in New Zealand. Cinematographer Dave Garbett, who also previously worked with Lee on Ash vs. Evil Dead. The director also revealed a bit that they had to use 1625 liters of fake blood while shooting. So fans can be assured of plenty of gory guts throughout the film. On October 27, 2021, the production phase of the project ended.
Plot and Casting:
When The Evil Dead (2013) was about five friends in a remote cabin in the woods who awaken demons and try to survive. The film will be about two sisters who were to uncover an ancient book that brings bloodthirsty demons to a building in Los Angeles and causes chaos. The cast includes Gabrielle Echols from Reminiscence, Morgan Davies from The End, Nell Fisher from Splendid Isolation, Alyssa Sutherland from Viking and The Mist, and Lily Sullivan from The Righteous Gemstone.
