England squad against South Africa

England All-rounder Ravi Bopara has been selected in the 13-man squad for the 1st Test against South Africa starting on Thursday at The Oval.

Bopara will replace Jonny Bairstow.

Geoff Miller, The National selector said, “He has worked hard to regain his place in the test squad following some injury concerns earlier in the season and is the only player included who is yet to play a test match this summer.

England Test SquadAndrew Strauss (captain), Ian Bell, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan,  Alastair Cook, Graham Onions, Steven Finn, Graeme Swann, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Jonathan Trott.
