Elon Musk reinstated Donald Trump’s Twitter account, lifting a block that had kept the former president of the United States (US) from tweeting since 2021.
Trump’s account was blocked after a mob of supporters attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021, as Congress was about to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.
Musk made the announcement after conducting a poll asking Twitter users to vote “yes” or “no” on whether or not Trump’s account should be reinstated.
It’s not yet clear whether Trump will actually return to Twitter.
Trump has said in the past that he would not join Twitter again, even if his account was reinstated.
During this time he relied on his own smaller social media site, Truth Social.
