Professional business women everywhere have known about the importance of appearance when it comes to impress clients or customers. Dressing to be success does not only include choosing the right outfit, but also putting the perfect accessories as well as personal grooming. We want our appearances to be impressive and show how good we are in managing ourselves right to the most personal points.
Demonstrating that you care about your personal appearance communicates to the person you are meeting with that they are important to you. Paying attention to the details of your appearance sends a message to others that you will also pay close attention to business details, and the needs of your customers and clients.
Here are some simple, useful tips of personal grooming for business women.
- Avoid heavy-scented perfume, or better, do not use any perfume at all. There is a chance that perfume scent could induce allergy or trigger asthma to some people, overpower a room, and are often more offensive than pleasing. Avoid smelling like smoke also.
- Hands are the body parts that people often look in detail; we also often use our hand gestures to make emphasize at some points when we explain about something. Keep your fingernails clean and trimmed, and avoid wearing unusual or shocking nail colors. Do not wear any forms of nail art or jewelry.
- Style should be neat and conservative, and preferably off the face. With few exceptions, hair color should not be shocking or unusual (leave blue hair for Halloween). Hair sprays and gels that have a strong scent or odor should be avoided.
- Keep your makeup simple and appropriate for daytime. Wearing no makeup at all is almost as bad as wearing too much makeup.
- Jewelry should not be noisy (no metal bangle bracelets), too large, or costume jewelry. Keep earrings small, simple, and above the earlobe. It is better to wear no jewelry at all, than too wear too much jewelry. But all business women should at least wear a nice, conservative wrist watch.
