Derbyshire batsman Billy Godleman pens extension

Derbyshire batsman Billy Godleman has signed a new one-year contract extension to keep him at the Division Two club until the end of 2016.

The 26-year-old Londoner has been rewarded with a new contract following his stellar performance  to the new season scoring 235 runs in just three games at an average of 47, including three half-centuries.

โ€œBilly is currently playing the best cricket of his life,โ€ Derbyshire elite performance director Graeme Welch said. โ€œHe has done everything we have asked of him during the winter and heโ€™s now reaping the benefits.

โ€œHe has put in the hard work and continues to improve both as a cricketer and as a person. Heโ€™s become a leader amongst the team and we hope his form can continue.โ€

Godleman has scored 4,382 runs in 90 first-class appearances during his first-class career.
