Dell Latitude 13 comes covered in carbon fiber

With the new Dell Latitude 13, the company proves that it has found a new design language that works. Moreover, the company aims to expand this design into other products. As we already seen on the market, new Dell laptops are becoming thinner and more compact than other competitors on the market.

But, this new design line comes with some compromises, mainly the hardware. It seems that the focus on portable design took over the entire company of Dell. A good example is the new Latitude 13. This line has never been as attractive as it is now.

With this new design, the new Dell Latitude 13 looks more portable and high-end. As we know from the past, the Latitude line is a high-end ultrabook for business travelers. The new Dell Latitude 13 measures approximately a half-inch thick and weighs 2.5 pounds.

Moreover, this laptop has the same thing-bezel InfinityEdge display that customers could see on the XPS13.

As we already mentioned, due to its measurements and weight, this laptop had to make a lot of compromises when it comes to the hardware configuration. So, the new Dell Latitude 13 comes with a Core m5 processor, rather than Core i5.

Moreover, the new Dell Latitude 13 comes with a smaller battery compared with the XPS 13 and many other 13-inch notebooks. Dell has also decided to ditch the cooling fan. As for the price, this chapter has suffered some changes, as well.

The prices for Dell Latitude 13 have skyrocketed, because base models are available at the price of 1,300 dollars, with a core m3 processor. But, there are some high-end models that are available at the price of 2,100 dollars.

Probably, many customers will think that the new Dell Latitude 13 is similar with the successful XPS 13, but it is not. Of course, the two laptops share many design traits, for example a broad hinge, the location of the ports and the thin-bezel display.

But, it seems that the new Dell Latitude 13 has updated from the metal display lid to carbon fiber. It seems that this optional upgrade adds approximately 70 dollars to the price. Moreover, the new Dell Latitude 13 and XPS 13 are not as similar as they seem. The new Latitude 13 seems to be more similar to the Asus UX305CA, because it lacks a cooling fan.

The connectivity chapter is very generous here. The new Dell Latitude 13 comes with not one, but two Thunderbolt 3 ports.

One of these Thunderbolt ports is being used to charge the system. To be added that there is also a USB 3.0 port, a combo headphone/microphone jack, a micro-HDMI output, and an SD card reader. As for the wireless connectivity, the new Dell Latitude 13 comes with a dual-band 802.11ac adapter, and includes Bluetooth 4.1.

To be added that there is also optional LTE mobile data support and an optional SmartCard reader.

The new Dell Latitude 13 can be found in two screen options. The first option is a 1080p non-touch display and the other one is a 3.200 x 1.800 pixel touchscreen display.
