nAnquickie look at Kenya’s colonization would show that Britain grabbedncontrol of the African nation in the 1800s, and Kenya officiallynbecame a colony in 1920. Kenyans demanded a greater role in their ownngovernment, but it took until 1944 for ONE African to be included innthe colony’s legislature. Still, the people clamored for self-rule.nFinally, in the 1950s, Kenyans rebelled in what is called the Mau Maunuprisings. The Brits began to make concessions from then on,nculminating in actual independence in1963.
