nAnothernday, another statehood anniversary. Yesterday we celebrated U.S. Saten#20, a Southern state, Mississippi, with its 12/10/1817 statehoodndate. Today we celebrate U.S. State #19, a northern state, Indiana,nwhich became a state on 12/11/1816.

nIndiananand its capital city, Indianapolis, got their names from “IndiannLand.” The state bills itself as “Lincoln’s Boyhood Home,” andnresidents proudly call themselves Hoosiers, even though that termnprobably originally meant (roughly) country bumpkin.
