Ghosts may be found in many sizes and shapes. Some people give out more good energy than others. I’m fascinated to tales involving sinister forces. This may be due to the rarity of these tales.
In her book Dark Angels, Dr. Rita Louise discusses the different angels, beings, and ghosts she has come into contact with throughout her life.
She had one of these encounters when she was a little girl. Ten members of her family, including seven siblings, formerly resided in an ancient Victorian home constructed in 1898.
There were four levels in this draughty house, including a basement. Louise was never at ease in this particular room in the house.
Everyone in the family agreed that there was a ghost in the basement. This evil force was known as “the dead man.” However, other than naming it, they never discussed it.
Louise resisted going into the basement because she was afraid. She was frequently chosen by her older brothers to go down and get anything required if she happened to be in the kitchen when her mother was making a family supper because the family’s additional refrigerator and freezer were stored in this gloomy, dusty area.
The author describes her frantic scrambles to turn on lights and scurry around corners in order to get the required object, as well as her sprint back upstairs in order to enter the basement door before it crashed shut.
Sadly, this door frequently inexplicably shut behind her, trapping her in the basement for longer periods of time while she banged on it in an attempt to get to the kitchen’s safety.
Then, as she struggled to force the door open, she would hear the feared wicked chuckle from behind her. Every time she was taken to the basement, this dreadful scene kept replaying.
She was shocked to discover that her mother was the only member of the family who never seemed to be bothered by the deceased. She would spend a lot of time doing laundry in the basement. When her mother hung the clothing to dry, Louise would see the dead man standing nearby, but her mother seemed to be able to ignore his presence.
Years later, the siblings opened up about their personal experiences with this ghost during a family reunion. He was constantly hiding close to where their mother normally hung the clothing, they all agreed. Their descriptions of how he appeared were much more revealing. They were alike.
